Radio broadcasting

Steve’s early career was as a night club DJ and radio show host working across the UK counties of Essex and Kent, as well as London.

During the course of more than 10 years was a whirlwind of jobs – from top club DJ, to Radio Top Shop station manager and presenter, breakfast show presenter at Radio Basildon, and volunteer presenter and newsreader at Southend Hospital Radio.

Having completed his training as a news reporter in his mid 20s he worked in the newsrooms at both BBC Essex and competing commercial station Radio Essex.

A sideways move into newspaper journalism meant he left radio behind, but years later podcasting saw him back behind the microphone.

In 2013 he launched a weekly show of 80s club dance music, and having done his dash with that format after three years, Steve launched a weekly jazz show that’s currently syndicated to almost 100 broadcasters worldwide.

And with the emergence of internet radio Steve launched two stations along with associated websites, developed station branding, music format, and logo artwork.

In addition Steve launched Instant Radio Station as a free resource for anyone wanting to start a hobby or community radio station.

Below are some examples of Steve’s on-air work…
